The subject of my photo essay is a small plush lamb (in most of the photos) and the photos were taken in Freeport and Ogunquit, Maine. I selected these places for my photo essay because I love vacationing there with my boyfriend and his family. I think that both places are beautiful yet very simple. The concept that I'm portraying in this series of photos is the theme of travel and taking a journey. I feel as the the images displayed show a journey as they are all in different locations and show the lamb doing different activities. In the first photo I wanted to convey a sense of longing by having the lamb look out the window. The next photo was a train track and that was placed their to show a need for travel. The third photo is supposed to look as though the lamb is waiting on the bench for his train. The rest of the photos simply show the lamb enjoying his vacation by visiting a memorial, drinking lemonade, riding a motorcycle, and playing chess. There is visual unity because the lamb unifies the photos. Also, all of the photos are bright and have natural lighting except for the first one which is slightly darker because the lamb is stuck inside and this darkness symbolizes a sadness. The series of photos is cohesive and tells a fun and playful story.
